Butterfield’s

Butterfield’s

The vote is in – Butterfield’s named best breakfast in Scottsdale.

To be fair and in the name of full disclosure – there was only one voter (Yours Truly) – but I also believe I am uniquely qualified to be the deciderer, which is an old George W. Bush expression.

You see, I am a breakfast guy and other than the occasional scrambled eggs at home, I eat out every morning, a habit which my family and friends put up with because I also do not like to eat alone. So, my daughter Kelly “Butterfield’s again Dad?” and my granddaughter Katy “OK (sigh)”
carry the biggest burden here. That’s why they didn’t get to vote.

Of course, they are not the only ones. I’ve invited staff, other agents, other family and just about everyone I know to breakfast at one time or another. And to be clear, I’ve given all the other places a try or two (see the list), but I keep coming back to Butterfield’s for all the right reasons.

The Runners Up – these are all good places for breakfast. It just depends on your mood, time or location. I can recommend any one of these and if you call me on my 24/7 cell (602-796-5751), I am happy to discuss the heavenly pleasures of breakfast any time.

The List:

  1. Butterfield’s Pancake House – 7388 E Shea Blvd.
   and in alphabetical order:
  • Black Bear Diner – 17030 N Scottsdale Rd. Packed in the morning when all the hotel guests check out.
  • Butters Pancakes and Café – multiple locations. Same menu and owner as Butterfield’s but not the original.
  • First Watch – multiple locations.
  • McDonald’s – Yes, to be fair, the sausage and egg burrito is quick and easy and the coffee is good – you just don’t want to dine in.
  • Original Pancake House – multiple locations.
  • Over Easy – 10637 N Tatum Blvd. Good with eggs.
  • Perk Eatery – 6501 E Greenway Pkwy. Excellent coffee!
  • Snooze A. M. Eatery at Kierland Commons – They call their oatmeal porridge, delicious!
  • Nellie Cashman’s Monday Club Café at The Westin Kierland

If I’ve missed your special place, call me – Kelly & Katy would love a change.
One last thing – Ask for the egg white omelet with one yolk. Looks and tastes the same as a regular omelet but cuts the saturated fat by two thirds.
